UMSU SummerFest

In 2017, UMSU’s O-Week festival was in need of a makeover. Previous designs had been confused with UniMelb’s O-Week events, as the design elements were overly corporate. Influences from music festivals, summer and beach culture, and emerging 90s retro vibes breathed new life into the event’s identity. These influences were used and expanded upon for the next three years.

During those years, the designs were applied to everything from animations to printed items, merchandise, decorations, and wayfinding. The new design was well received by UMSU departments and, importantly, by new and returning students every year until its retirement in 2020.
